Port of Grace Community Church

The Bible is our only and complete authority to teach us what is true, to make us realize what is wrong in our lives, to show us how to correct what is wrong and to train us how to live the way God desires and empowers us to live, through the power of His Holy Spirit.

We want this to define and guide the specifics of what and how we believe.

*If you have questions about our stand(s) on a specific biblical teaching, or theological position please ask, we'll be happy to talk about this.

About these things you'll hear us say, "We major on the majors and minor on the minors.

Some of the Specifics...

CENTRAL TO HOW AND WHAT WE BELIEVE...

WE ARE CHRIST-CENTERED
Jesus defined specifically what His followers needed to believe and how they needed to live in relationship to Him. His sacrificial death for us and resurrection has made him both our Master and Saviour. We are committed to growing in obedience to this. He is the only one who has the right to tell us how to live.

WE ARE BIBLE-CENTERED
We want to allow the Bible to say all it says, but only what it says. To embrace it's tensions and recognize that there are things we don't and won't fully comprehend this side of heaven, and that's ok. We want to struggle, work through and accept those tensions without just defaulting to this or that man's opinion, especially when those opinions are divisive.

WE ARE HOLY SPIRIT-CENTERED
We believe it is only through the Holy Spirit's indwelling of us that we are empowered to live the Christian life. We are called and responsible to obey and must "choose" to do so, but it's the Spirit in us that gives us both the desire and the ability to do so.

WE ARE "CHURCH/BODY"-CENTERED

All the Biblical pictures of the Christian life are pictures of God's people, together, living out his call on their lives. We believe "christian" individualism outside or disconnected from an expression of the "body of Christ" is unbiblical, and hurts us, the body and God's message.

WE ARE LOVE & SERVICE-CENTERED

We want to obey Christ's call for us to love and serve others as He loved and served us.

WE ARE MISSION-CENTERED

Jesus came on mission from God. As our Saviour and master, he sends us out on mission enabled by His Spirit. This is not an option. We are the reconciled, called to reconcile others to God. We must leverage our time, our gifts, our resources, everything, for this one purpose.
